From the moment Clear Channel Radio Chicago axed WLIT-FM (93.9) morning drive host Melissa Forman in mid-August, her fans were upset. And it seems they still are up in arms. More than two months after Forman left WLIT, those devoted followers continue to attach their plaintive yearnings for her return to our blog entry that first announced the radio host’s departure from the adult contemporary outlet.
As recently as last week, a woman named Diana wrote on our blog that she keeps “checking WLIT occasionally to see if they brought back Melissa and the team. Not yet, but they will. . . .” When we tried to get Forman on the phone to discuss her fans’ outcries and her future, she e-mailed to say how “excited” she was to hear from us. But she refused to call back and asked, innocently enough, what people were saying. She also said it’s tough for her to conduct interviews because she is “being considerate of her contract.”
Her considerate nature aside, Forman no doubt knows history might repeat itself, and she would be better off letting her fans do the talking for her right now. WLIT canned her once before in 2006, and replaced her with a syndicated show fronted by Whoopi Goldberg. The Goldberg era lasted a little more than a year before Forman returned to WLIT. It’s too soon to say whether the Sean Valentine show that replaced Forman last month will suffer the same fate the Goldberg show did, but Forman apparently isn’t sitting around idly waiting to find out. She’s busy writing to her fans, redesigning her Web site, doing photo shoots to create new images for the site and blogging occasionally about what sounds like a fun-filled life. Her latest entry tells of a weekend trip she and husband, Scott, took to New York City, where she discovered a shop with a name that caught her attention — Baked by Melissa. She described the cupcakes the shop sells as “cute” and “delicious.”

Melissa, I just keep waiting for your return to WLIT. I am one of the many patient fans who waited out the whole Whoopie temprorary replacement (I KNEW YOU”D BE BACK!) This time, though, I think you will be back IF YOU WANT TO! Otherwise, there could be other bigger, better opportunities out there for you. I just hope whatever comes next it will keep you in Chicago. There. How’s that for qualified support….”I support you if it can please be in Chicago
” Keep shining!
Melissa,
I am not sure how the Lite will really survive without you. I don’t listen to radio much of the year, until the Holiday’s and then the Lite is on all the time. I feel they made a big mistake in firing you, I hope however that you will prosper regardless.
God Bless You and I hope to hear you once again on the radio waves.

You go girl~ The LITE made a big mistake and I told them so myself!!! Great article!
Great to talk to you this morning. Give those girls a big hug from the Glickmans

Hi Mel,.
Great new website. You know my feeling about WLIT , I hope 105.9 Fresh FM steamrolls them in the ratings.
They suffered in the ratings when they let you go the fist time and from what I hear they a struggling.
They can not make up their mind what they want , they have done the same things with Delilah , they can not make up their minds on her either.
It is their loss not having you.
Melissa,
I love your new website!!!! I spoke to you just before you left WLIT the first time when the whole Whoopi thing came about…..I waited that out figuring someone would realize that Whoopi just was not what the people of Chicago wanted! I was shocked when I learned that you were gone for a second time! I thought you were just sdimply going on vacation in August, not being “let go”…..when will those in charge see the error of their ways? I do not like the Valenetine show….I am just waiting for the Christmas music to start….and maybe find out that you are back yet again because they, the powers that be, learned their lesson!! They cannot seem to get their act to gether on Delilah either….Love you Melissa……

I’m so glad I found you. It’s a great website, keep up the good work. Say hi to Jim & Tony as well. I wrote to the station to let them know, big mistake they made. I had to turn the lite completely off, I have my own Xmas music w/me and that will have to do. God Bless you and your family and hope you will be back. Love you Melissa!!!!

Melissa,
Myself, like so many others, still longs for the day when you will return to our airwaves. You and the crew are missed so much. We care about you and hope all is going well with you and your family. All your pictures are great! How the children have grown.
Please, please come back to us…

Melissa: Chicago radio is no good without you. I emailed and wrote to that stupid station but they are cowards and did not respond. Valentine is a joke. When will they ever learn. Hope you are happy but your listeners won’t be happy till you are back on the radio…..any station would be blessed to have you! Please come back to radio, we miss you.

Hey Melissa, So good to be here at your web site. It’s like visiting an old friend. Every weekday morning I listened to you on my hour drive into work and I feel like we became BFFs. I miss you and have turned off WLIT. Even at Christmas, I doned my Ipod and played music (including “Pretty Little Dolly” I purchased from your tip last year) and absolutely will not give WLIT my listening time. I’d love to hear you again, but because we’re friends I wish you happiness away from a bizzare emplyer.

Hi Melissa,
My family and I continue to miss you everyday.
We have switched to having the tv on in the
mornings and never the radio. It is not the
same w/o you and the boys to brighten the
mornings and get us up and going. I have
so much trouble getting out of bed now. It
used to be I would get right up and put the
radio on so I had a “friend” to get me started
but now there is nothing. Hopefully a smart
executive will arrive on the radio scene and
get you back where you belong!
i always enjoyed your show and still miss it. Working 11 pm – 7 am seemed like a breeze when I could tune wlit in at 5 am and catch your program. It made the last few hours fly by. I didn’t have much heart to tune into the wlit Christmas music this last season. I listened elsewhere. I still keep my ears open per chance to hear that you have returned to radio in Chicago.
Hi Melissa:
I listened to you the first time you were on, then they replaced you with Whoopi, at which time I started channel surfing, never really finding the right station for me. Then, by chance, while surfing stations I found you had returned to the lite and I reset the station on my radio. Then I tune in one morning & you are gone again. I’m still cheking for your return to a Chicago Radio Station.
Hope you & your family are well !!!
Melissa,
I’m surfing trying to find if you’re back on the air. I have given up on WLIT and found a new station.
Love the new website. I’ll check it regularly to see what’sup.
Miss ya. Wish you the best.
