About
Melissa grew up in Northbrook where she attended Glenbrook North High School. She went on to graduate college from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2008 Melissa received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Glenbrook North where she was recognized for her leadership as an outstanding radio broadcaster and for her contribution to the community . Melissa has been one of only a few women to lead a morning radio show and the FIRST woman in the Country to host both a show in the morning AND in the afternoon at the same time. She has also helped raise over $500,000 for local charities
Melissa’s radio career started in Champaign where she worked as an intern and received her first break imitating Bart Simpson on Mix 94.5. That break lead to an incredibly successful 5 year on- air teaming with her partner, Jerome Ritchie. She then moved to Cincinnati where she worked at Mix 94.1. In 1999, she moved home to Chicago where she worked at WKIE-FM 92.7/5 (KISS FM). In 2001 she started hosting Mornings at WLIT-FM 93.9 in Chicago until August of 2009 with a team she loved.
In 2007 Melissa hosted Homes Plus on CLTV with Jane Monzures. It was a fun- filled, informative show about home developments across Chicagoland.
Her on-air radio adventures have taken her flying at 6 G’s in fighter jets, hot air ballooning LIVE on the air, sitting in 17,000 seats in the middle of November at Memorial Stadium in order to raise money for a children’s charity, and living in a MALL for 4 straight days. Radio has definitely been an outlet for Melissa to both connect and engage.
She is happily married and has two amazing stepsons and two little girls.

We need you back, Melissa! I loved listening to you on my hour long ride in the morning. You made my laugh,
Remember when I called you on-air to tell you about how my husband had a kidney stone and my sons and I were all “googling” symptons and cures on our laptops around his bed? I started laughing at the sheer absurdity of this – what did they do in the olden days?? Remember – if we couldn’t laugh we would all go insane……..

I miss you in the morning. It was wonderful to see you introducing the Betty White sessions on the Mary Tyler Moore shows for the last two weeks on METV. You have a talent that should be on the air all the time. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Hey, we need to get together soon with all our old school friends and catch up with the old times.
